Minecraft is full of different types of biomes, each with their own unique environmental factors and mobs that roam the world. More often than not, when players start the game and appear in the world, they usually start from the plains.
However, when they die during their adventure, the game spawns them in a random biome to start over with their resources. While some of them offer good loot and resources and are safe to explore, others make life hell.
Often players use Java commands to teleport and move across multiple biomes in Minecraft which is only possible if they play the game for a longer period of time. However, others have to bear the consequences the biomes inflict on them, so they find themselves helpless when stuck in a predicament.
While some serve as great spawn points, others turn out to be the worst that players really hate. Here is a list of the five worst biomes to appear in Minecraft.
5 biomes that negatively affect Minecraft players
Surviving in a Minecraft Desert biome is as hard as it is in real life. Starting the journey by spawning in a desert can turn out to be one of the worst things that can happen to a player. There are only a handful of resources they can farm to survive if they don’t have good armor or weapons in their inventory.
The desert biome is one of the toughest and most unforgiving biomes in Minecraft, as it comes with its own set of challenges. It features an incredibly flat landscape, which makes it extremely difficult to hide from hostile mobs, especially ghosts and pods.
Additionally, it is also almost entirely devoid of food and water, so surviving in this biome is not easy. Worse is the unavailability of materials to build a structurally sound shelter that players can use for rest or protection.
2) Deep ocean
While the desert is unforgiving and lacking in water, the deep ocean is equally harsh with no sign of land but with an added threat of sea creatures. Being an ocean biome on its own makes it quite uninhabitable for Minecraft players as it can go on for miles with no hope of seeing any land or food.
Unlike normal ocean biomes, the deep ocean can contain deep underwater ravines. They are lined with hot magma blocks which create columns of bubbles and sink those who swim alongside, with their strong current. Light almost never reaches the bottom of the ocean due to its depth. Thus, this allows drowned players to easily spawn in this area, which is one of the toughest biomes in the game.
3) Snowy tundra
Snowy Tundra is a large biome that looks like normal plains but is covered in heavy snow. It only has a limited number of trees, making it difficult for players to harvest wood and resources from them.
Additionally, the only mobs Minecraft players can find here are rabbits and polar bears, as opposed to pigs, chickens, and many more in warmer regions. Additionally, the wandering skeleton that roams the snowy biome shoots slow arrows that can be extremely irritating to those it touches.
4) Gravelly mountains
Gravelly Mountains is a mountain-style biome in Minecraft that is considered dangerous and is made up of gravel rather than grass blocks. When players climb mountains or descend caves here, they must be extremely careful of their surroundings.
During their activity, the blocks may shatter and fall on the player’s head and choke them, eventually leading to their death. Apart from that, it becomes extremely difficult to cut down trees. Due to the heavy gravel there is not much tree or plant growth here.
Badlands is a rare desert-like biome, with the main difference being that regular golden sand is replaced with red sand. Additionally, terracotta mounds of different colors that are generated throughout the area can also be seen.
Cacti and dead bushes are the only vegetation that can be seen and cultivated. However, the unique thing that sets this biome apart is that passive mobs in Minecraft do not spawn here, unlike the desert where rabbits spawn. This renders players unable to gather raw food, leaving them hungry.
