NIJISANJI EN’s common Minecraft server was destroyed after Luca Kaneshiro accidentally deleted half of their village with a buggy biome change. Instead of dwelling on it, more than a dozen Livers came together to kick off a mega rebuild on September 15.
NIJISANJI EN once had an excellent Minecraft server full of creations from all talents. It was a place where the different VTubers hung out and played games together in a common place.
However, it was accidentally destroyed on September 7 by Luca Kaneshiro due to an unfortunate set of circumstances.
Luca was trying to set up a server to play with fellow Liver Elira, but didn’t know which server he was controlling at the time. Luca Kaneshiro accidentally deleted part of the NIJISANJI Minecraft server, and with it a ton of creations made not only by him but by a number of members. He tried to find a backup copy of the server, but it crashed right after the crash.
It included his home and farm, dozens of other buildings, and even the NIJISANJI logo: “I didn’t know until I woke up [the next day] that was messed up,” he said after the incident. “It was 6am too.”
“I tried to flatten it for six hours. Everyone was broadcasting and I was doing this in the background. Because the server was reverted, for some reason when we reverted it, it just spawned this really big biome.
“I messed up so badly. I was so careless too. I didn’t know I was dealing with a server that wasn’t mine.
The accident created an opportunity — not just a private session to redo everything, but a great rebuilding collaboration.
“They weren’t sad at all. I trust them when they say that — they’re not mad at all. As soon as I told them what had happened, they said ‘we can rebuild everything’. Now that everything is flattened, we can rebuild it even better. I was so confused, shouldn’t you be mad?
“They’re a bit disappointed that it happened, but they’re like, ‘It’s okay’. It gives us the opportunity to work harder.”
A week later, on September 15, NIJISANJI did just that. More than a dozen EN VTubers joined the rebuilding session. Instead of trying to build stuff on the old server, they created a whole new map to rebuild on. They managed to copy things using WorldEdit, like the handmade logo and specific buildings.
They were sure to take one last group photo together — but even that was accidentally ruined by Luca teleporting a ton of mobs all over everyone.
It was a huge deal as everyone laughed at the pain of losing it all, creating new memories along the way. Luca himself was in his element trying to make sure everything was fine, setting things up for everyone and doing menial tasks.
It will be some time before it regains its former glory — or even beyond — so NIJISANJI EN’s Minecraft server is going to get a lot of attention in the meantime.
