Yu Gi Oh! Master Duel say goodbye to the current format with a new banned and limited list set to drop in late September, and do the work that the last banlist couldn’t complete on its own.
In addition to this change, players will finally be able to create banned and limited cards that were previously unavailable on September 30, such as Pot of Greed.
This is a huge update, as it allows players to use previously unreachable maps in Custom Duel Rooms to play limited games. Yu Gi Oh! formats like Goat, Reaper and Edison. If this kind of support continues to be pushed, Master Duel could see its own dedicated communities around these secondary formats start to appear or migrate from other platforms, which would be a big win for Konami.
For this updated Banned and Limited list, which goes into effect September 30, some of the more notable achievements include Crystron Halqifibrax being officially banned, Spellbook of Judgment going Limited, and a number of semi-limited moves like Rivalry of Warlords. , Gozen Match and ABC Dragon Buster. It looks like Floodgate Bridges will be the most impacted by these changes when they go into effect, with increased responses like Red Reboot at two copies now.
This doesn’t fix everything players are tired of dealing with in the current meat, like Maxx “C” always being in triplicate for example, but it should give some red decks a better hit or more deck building options dynamic.
There are a few things from this update that will go live before the end of the month, including the upcoming limited-time event and a new Structure deck.
This structure deck will be added to the in-game store on September 20 and will focus on the Spellbook archetype. It will include the newly unbanned Spellbook of Judgment as well as Hierophant of Prophecy, the game being called Prophecy Spell Book.
To go along with this new deck, Spellbook of Judgment will actually be legal starting today in preparation for the September 20 store update.
The new event will effectively be the first “versus” format, with both Synchro and Xyz Summoning mechanics being legal. So either the virtual world will be all over the place or players will continue with their current tribute summoning shenanigans.
The complete list of prohibitions and limits for the Synchro x Xyz is even live in Master Duel now and there will be three unique loaner decks for players to use if they don’t want to build a deck themselves. They will be Intersection of two colors (Magician’s Pendulum), Jolly Ghostrick (Ghostrick), and Black blade threatening the soul of the sword (Swordsoul).
