A new fan-made mod for the PC remaster of Marvel’s Spiderman allows players to transform the web-slinger into “evil” Tobey Maguire.
As reported by PC Gamer, this mod, created by a NexusMods user named Rezauddin Nur, honors the “Bully Maguire” meme that originated with Sam Raimi. Spiderman 3, where Peter Parker’s personality is drastically altered by the symbiote suit. Due to the costume’s influence, Parker acquires a gothic appearance with a more self-centered mentality. He also becomes much more confident, to the point of dancing in the middle of a New York sidewalk. The mod is further bolstered by the fortuitous inclusion of a finger-pointing taunt that perfectly matches the one used by Bully Maguire.
The PC remaster of Marvel’s Spiderman has seen several wacky mods since its launch. One mod, for example, allows players to transform the web-slinger into Kermit the Frog, even during cutscenes. Other mods that change Spidey’s appearance include a Stan Lee mod, a Minecraft Steve mod, and even a mod that turns him into a model of Ben Parker’s tombstone. Players have also created mods that drastically change the game’s environment, such as one that turns flocks of pigeons into flying slices of pizza.
Besides the ability to create and add mods, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered also has other useful features for PC users, such as support for ultra-wide monitors and customizable control options. The PC version is also pre-packaged with The city that never sleeps, a DLC pack that adds three additional story chapters, additional missions, and new gameplay challenges. So far, this three-part storyline is the only major DLC content that has been released for the game.
Originally released in 2018 and developed by Insomniac Games, Marvel’s Spiderman is an open-world action-adventure game about the titular superhero and his struggle to defeat the villainous Mister Negative before he can unleash a deadly virus on New York City. The game also introduces Doctor Octopus, one of Spider-Man’s most iconic foes of all time. The game received generally positive reviews, garnering praise for its engaging storytelling and arcade-style gameplay mechanics. A spin-off titled Miles Morales released in 2020, and as of May 15, 2022, the PS5 and PS4 versions of both games have sold over 33 million copies worldwide.
In addition to PC, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is also available for PS4 and PS5. The next major episode of the series, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2is currently in development and will be released exclusively on PS5 in 2023.
