Genshin Impact is an open-world action-adventure game by miHoYo. The massive open-world aspect of the game provides players with plenty of activities to do, some fun while others can be tedious. Depending on who you ask, the time trial challenges in Genshin Impact fall on either side of the argument.
Time Trial Challenges are an exploration activity in Genshin Impact which gives various rewards for completing the given tasks. These tasks must be completed within a set time limit for each challenge and they all vary. These challenges can be completed solo or cooperatively.
Challenges against the clock
There are a total of 243 time trial sites spread across all regions of Teyvat. Each of these challenges are part of certain regions and are a lot of similar challenges that involve doing certain tasks in the region as quickly as possible.
Time Trial challenges can be broken down into four different types, with each type of challenge requiring different objectives to complete in order to complete the challenge. Here are the four types of time trials:
- Blow up explosive barrels
- Defeat opponents
The first type of challenge involves detonating strategically placed explosive barrels that are spread across the map location. You will have to dash around the area and launch attacks on the barrels to make them explode. The recommended weapon to use to do this safely is the bow. Once they are all destroyed in time, you complete the challenge.
The second type of challenge is to defeat a certain number of enemies within the time limit. Most of these challenges are fairly simple, although some of them have additional challenges. These challenges include adverse conditions such as random lightning strikes in the area.
The third type of challenge is a bit strange. It includes a few challenges rolled into one, with some of them asking you to blow up explosive barrels, just like the first challenge. The other challenge is to glide through the air to collect elemental particles over time. You must either use a Wind Glider to collect Anemo Particles or use Thunder Spheres to collect Electro Particles within the time limit.
The fourth and final type of challenge involves running. This one is also quite simple, asking you to get from point to point as quickly as possible. In some cases, the time limit may be too short for you to complete the challenge. This can be fixed by defeating opponents along the way. Each defeated enemy adds five seconds to the timer.

These are all the time trials on the map, separated by main locations around Teyvat:

Liyue Time Trial
This area can be divided into Northern Liyue and Southern Liyue, each with their own share of time trial challenges.

Dragonspire Time Trial
The Dragonspire Time Trial challenges can be somewhat difficult due to the terrain. There are no achievements tied to these Time Trials, but they’re still great fun to complete if you like being challenged.
Inazuma’s Time Trial
Completing these challenges on Narukami Island, Kannazuka, and Yashiori Island on 6/12/24 grants you the “Lightning Riding Adventurer (I)” achievement together.

And finally, completing 5/10/12 of these challenges on Tsurumi Island nets you the final achievement in Inazuma called “Lost Adventurer”.
Getting all three achievements as well as all 80 challenges completed in this area will clear this area. There is also another hidden challenge, get the count up to 81, but this challenge is only accessible if you have participated in the Lost Riches event.
Enkanomiya Time Trial
One of the new areas introduced in Genshin Impactthe time trial challenges here can be quite difficult, but they are nonetheless quite doable.
Completing these challenges on 3/6/12 earns you the Constancy of Kairos achievement.
The Chasm Time Trials
The Chasm also features some of the toughest challenges in the game, but luckily there aren’t too many to complete. The Chasm is an underground region that includes another region also called Underground Mines. Time trials in these two areas are included in this slot.
Completing these challenges on 3/6/12 earns you the “Chasm Adventurer” achievement.
Of these 20 challenges, 15 of them are in the Underground Mines while the other five are on the surface.
Sumeru Time Trial
Sumeru is the most recent area introduced in Genshin Impact. This area is a combination of lush grasslands and a huge desert with many new characters introduced. The new Dendro element is also much more developed here.
With the new area also comes new time trial challenges.
Completing 10/20/40 of these challenges earns you the “Glittering Woods Adventurer” achievement.
The 45 challenges here are spread across the two regions of Sumeru. Depending on the terrain, some of these challenges may be more difficult than others.
While these challenges are all major challenges in the game, there are also a few time-limited challenges that count towards certain achievements.
Limited Time Trials
The extra challenges here are all time limited. As such, most of them cannot be completed at this time, but they may be available in future events.
- A challenge was introduced during the Lantern Rite event at Genshin Impact 1.3. This challenge wasn’t terribly difficult, but it did count towards the “Rock-Steady Adventurer” achievement.
- A challenge was introduced during the Lost Riches event at Genshin Impact 2.0. This challenge was somewhat difficult, but it counted towards the “Lightning-Riding Adventurer (I)” achievement.
- A total of 23 additional challenges have been introduced in Genshin Impact 2.5. These challenges were added during the Three Realms Gateway Offering event. With the large number of these challenges, fortunately, they were not part of any achievement.
And these are all the time trial challenges in Genshin Impact. We’ll keep you posted on any additional challenges that may be added to the game in the future.
